My Brother-Obsessed Girlfriend

My Brother-Obsessed Girlfriend

Today was my first time visiting my girlfriend Teri's family.
Before heading out, I carefully picked a decent suit and bought some high-end gifts.
I thought I was going to meet Teri's parents and have a serious talk about our future.
But instead, Teri drove to a place that looked ridiculously fancy.
I looked up and realized it was the city's top private postpartum care center.
I was puzzled and couldn't help but ask her what was going on.
Teri didn't answer me directly, just grabbed my hand and led me inside.
As soon as we stepped into the lobby, I saw Teri's brother Kelton walking over with a baby in his arms.
Kelton had this awkward smile and pushed the baby closer to me.
"Blaze, this is my son, your little nephew." He said.
I was stunned for a moment, completely caught off guard.
Teri and I aren't even married yet, so how did I suddenly have a little nephew?
Before I could sort out my thoughts, Kelton went on: "Blaze, my girlfriend is having a postpartum care here, and the total cost is three hundred thousand dollars. Could you help me cover it for now?"
I thought I misheard—three hundred thousand dollars no small amount.
Just as I was about to refuse, Kelton made an even more outrageous demand.
"Also, Blaze, my son will need a good school down the line. That big flat you have downtown isn't near a lot of schools? Let me use it for now."
He even added that I should help take care of the kids more since he's busy with work and has no time.
I couldn't believe my ears—this wasn't a request, it was a flat-out demand, like it was owed to him.
I took a deep breath, held back my anger, and told Kelton clearly:
"I can't pay that money for you, I'm not the one who should be raising the kids, and there's no way I'm giving you the house."
Kelton's face instantly darkened. Just as he was about to snap, Teri quickly stepped in to smooth things over.
"Blaze, don't be mad. Kelton's still young and immature. He shouldn't be lagged behind by stuff like this." Teri grabbed my arm, her voice pleading.
I looked at Teri, feeling both angry and speechless.
Kelton's already an adult—how can they still use "too young" as an excuse?
She actually helped pressure me into agreeing to such ridiculous demands.
I shrugged off Teri's hand and said firmly, "Impossible! I'll never agree to it."
The atmosphere in the hall turned awkward instantly, and people kept sneaking glances our way.
I knew that today's visit had completely messed up all my plans for the future.
Looking at these siblings in front of me, it hit me for the first time that I'd never really understood Teri at all.
She knew these demands were way over the line, but she still chose to side with her brother, trying to convince me to give in.
A cold shiver ran through me, and all the hope I had for this relationship shattered in that moment.
Kelton saw I was dead set, his face darkened, and he started muttering nasty stuff under his breath.
Teri was pacing anxiously beside us, trying to talk me down as well as yanking Kelton to stop him from speaking.
I didn't want to waste any more time there, so I turned around, ready to leave.
But Kelton stepped forward and blocked my way. "Blaze, if you don't agree today, don't even want to go," he said.
His tone was threatening, and his eyes grew fierce.
I looked at him, and my anger just kept burning hotter.
I never thought Kelton could be that kind of person—willing to do something like this over money and the house.
Teri quickly grabbed Kelton. "Don't be like this. Let's talk it out peacefully," she urged.
But Kelton didn't listen at all. He kept blocking my way, refusing to budge.
I swallowed my anger and said to Teri, "Teri, tell him to step aside. I don't want to argue with you guys here."
Teri looked at me, then at Kelton, her face full of helplessness.
In the end, she said to Kelton, "Kelton, step aside for now. We'll talk about this at home."
Kelton reluctantly moved aside, but his eyes were still full of resentment.
I stopped looking at them and walked straight to the entrance of the postpartum care center.

When I reached the door, I glanced back at Teri. She was standing there, looking at me with a complicated expression.
I know our relationship might never be the same again.
I got in the car, my heart a mess of emotions.
I thought back to all the moments with Teri—those sweet times felt like just yesterday.
But what happened today hit me like a bucket of cold water, snuffing out all my passion.
I really don't get why Teri would allow her brother to throw out such ridiculous demands.
In her view, is her brother's selfish demand important than mine and our future?
The more I thought about it, the colder I felt inside. I started the car and drove toward my place.
The whole way, my mind was racing with everything that happened today, and I just couldn't settle down.
I knew I had to seriously think about whether this relationship was worth continuing.
If Teri kept unable to see right from wrong and blindly siding with her brother—even if we got married, we'd never be happy.
When I got home, I shut myself in my room and sat with my thoughts for a long time.
I pulled out my phone and looked at Teri's messages, all full of excuses and pleas.
I didn't respond; I just quietly blocked her number.
I feel like what I need right now is some space to really sort through my emotions and thoughts.
I don't want to get tangled up with them anymore, nor do I want to get angry over these ridiculous demands.
After blocking Teri's number, I finally felt a bit more at ease.
I thought that would be the end of their harassment, but I had no idea it was only the beginning.
In the days that followed, I ended up facing even more unexpected challenges.
And the clashes between me, Teri, and Kelton just kept getting worse.
I lay in bed staring at the ceiling, feeling totally lost.
I don't know what the future holds, but I know I can't keep compromising like before.
I have to stand my ground and protect my own interests and dignity.
Otherwise, they'll just keep pushing their luck and bullying me even more.
Thinking about this, I clenched my fists and my eyes grew determined.
No matter what challenges come my way, I'll face them head-on and never give up easily.
Because I know that's the only way to protect the life I want and find the true happiness meant for me.
The day after I blocked Teri's number, my mobile kept ringing nonstop from unknown callers.
I knew it was Teri calling from a new number, but I hung up every single time.
But she didn't seem to give up—calls kept coming from morning till night without a break.
Then, in an evening, a text came from an unknown number saying Kelton wanted to apologize and asked me to meet him at the International Hotel.
I hesitated for a long time, thinking it might be good to clear everything up once and for all.
I pulled myself together and drove to the hotel.

When I walked into the private room we agreed on, I just froze.
The room was packed with people, all of Teri's relatives, and the table was piled high with food and drinks.
This wasn't an apology at all—it was clearly just a family gathering.
When Teri saw me, she immediately stood up and pulled me to sit down, her face plastered with an awkward smile.
Kelton was sitting nearby, showing no intention of apologizing—instead, he looked completely self-righteous.
A bad feeling crept up inside me, and I wanted to get up and leave.
But Teri's parents had already come over, warmly greeting me, trapping me so I couldn't get away.
Halfway through the meal, Kelton suddenly stood up, raised his glass, and said to everyone, "I've called you all here today because I need to say something."
He looked at me, his tone carrying a hint of command: "Blaze, my son was just born. As the my brother-in-law, I think you should at least give a 300,000-dollar red envelope, right?"
"And your housing near the schools, I think you also need to save it for my son to go to school."
No sooner had he finished speaking than all the relatives in the private room turned to persuade me.
"Young man, we're all family now; it's all right to help each other out."
"300,000 dollars isn't so much for you. You should help out Kelton."
"Saving the school district house for the kid's education is also a good deed, you know."
Hearing those words, I just felt sick.
This was pure moral blackmail, treating my efforts like they were owed to them.
I stood up, looked at Kelton and the relatives around, and said firmly, "I'm not giving any red envelopes, and there's no way I'm handing over the school district housing. Don't even think about it."
Kelton's face instantly darkened, and he slammed the table, saying:
"Blaze, don't be so rude. With so many relatives here today, if you disgrace us, that means you're disrespecting my whole family."
Teri tugged my arm awkwardly and smiled, saying, "Blaze, don't get worked up. Let's talk this through. We're all family—just endure them for a while."
I shook off her hand, the anger inside me finally breaking free.
"Endure? You expect me to endure when you're making such ridiculous demands?"
I looked at Teri, "Teri, look at your brother, look at these relatives—what exactly do they take me for?"
Teri lowered her head, avoiding my eyes, whispering, "I can't help it, they're all my family."
"Family? So family gives them the right to treat me like this?" I let out a cold sneer.
I stopped arguing and headed straight for the private room door.
Behind me came Kelton's furious yelling and the relatives' murmurs, but I didn't care.
Walking out of the International Hotel, the night breeze finally calmed the anger burning inside me—just a little.
I knew that after what happened today, it was absolutely over between Teri and me.
I wasn't going to give her any more chances, nor would I let her family drag me into their mess again.
I got in the car and drove straight home.
All the way, there was only one thought on my mind—to get as far away from Teri and her family as possible and live my own life.

Back home, I washed up and planned to rest early, hoping to relieve the day's exhaustion.
But no sooner had I lain down than urgent knocks came at the door.
I thought maybe a neighbor needed something, so I got up to open the door.
The moment I opened the door, I froze.
Teri and Kelton were standing at the doorstep, carrying bags and suitcases.
"What are you two doing here?" I frowned, my tone icy.
Kelton didn't answer me; instead, he pushed past me and walked into the house with his luggage.
"Kelton, what are you doing? This is my home! Get out!" I said angrily.
Kelton just ignored me, dropped the luggage in the living room, and said to Teri, "Sister, go change the sheets in the largest bedroom—I'm staying there with my son."
Teri shot me a glance, hesitated a bit, then grabbed her luggage and headed for the master bedroom.
"Teri, stop right there!" I shouted, "Who told you to touch my stuff?"
Teri stopped, turned around, looking at me with a pleading look: "Blaze, we're just staying a few days. We'll leave once Kelton finds a place."
"No way, you guys get out of my house right now!" I said firmly.
But Kelton came over, patted my shoulder, and said, "Blaze, don't be so petty. We're family. What's wrong accommodating me for a few days?"
He said as he looked around my house, his eyes full of greed.
"Your house is really nice, and all this brand-name furniture...looks like you're seriously loaded."
After saying that, he started rummaging through the house, opening my wardrobe and picking up my designer clothes and watch to check them out.
"Wow, these clothes and this watch must've cost a fortune, huh?" Kelton looked at them with envy.
Seeing what he was doing, the anger inside me kept boiling over.
"Kelton, stop! Don't touch my stuff!"
But Kelton ignored me and kept digging, even picking up my mother's memorial photo to look at.
"Is this your mom? She looks pretty young, but too bad she died so early." He said it in a flippant tone, with a hint of mockery.
That sentence completely set me off.
I stormed over, snatched my mom's memorial photo, held it tight against my chest, and yelled at Kelton, "Shut up! Don't you dare insult my mom!"
Kelton was taken aback by my expression and stepped back, but quickly bounced back to his arrogant self.
"It's just a photo. What's the big deal? Why so worked up?"
"Say one more word, I dare you!" I glared at Kelton, my eyes filled with murder.
Teri rushed over and stood between me and Kelton. "Blaze, don't be mad, Kelton didn't mean it."
"Didn't mean it? He totally did it on purpose!" I shoved Teri aside, trying to fight with Kelton.
But Teri blocked me again, pushing me hard to the side.
I lost my balance and fell backward, hitting the back of my head hard on the corner of the wall.
A sharp pain shot through me, my vision blacked out, and I nearly fainted.
I steadied myself against the wall, slowly finding my balance, eyes fixed on Teri, my heart full of disappointment and rage.
"Teri, are you seriously? You pushed me for his sake?"
Teri stared at me coldly, "Blaze, you're too ridiculous. Kelton's my brother—I can't let you hurt him."
"I hurt him? He was the one who bullied me first!" I clutched the back of my head, the pain making it hard to even speak.
Kelton swaggered over, smirking. "What? Blaze, do you get the situation now? I advise you to be smart and keep us here, or you'll pay for it."
Teri spoke up, "Blaze, I think you should go somewhere else for cooling yourself. Once Kelton's emotions have calmed down, I'll reach out to you."
"You want me to go out to find somewhere else? This is my house!" I couldn't believe my ears.
"Not anymore," Kelton said. "From today on, this house belongs to me."
I looked at the two guys before me, feeling utterly hopeless.
They were shameless enough to take over my house and now wanted to kick me out.
I knew there was no reasoning with them; I had to figure out a way to drive them away.
