Reclaiming My Fated Alpha(Freya Series Book 5)
Samael Wulf
After asking Kali to marry me, she was surprisingly silent for the first time in her life. I could see her eyes beginning to well up as a smile stretched across her sadistic face. Looking at her slight smile reminded me of Freya, and I imagined that it was her standing in front of me, accepting my hand in marriage. That would have made me the happiest vampire alive. As Kali's smile widened, those murderous fangs of hers peeked out beneath her ruby red lips. My heart sank into the pit of my stomach with a mix of disgust and apprehension.
"Yes, Sam. I thought this day would never come!" She replied while hurtling herself at me. In a split-second decision, I caught her, but it was very close. If I’d taken a few more seconds to mull it over, the nasty bitch would have slid right down my body and landed on her ridiculously perfect ass. She would have deserved it too.
I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her close to my body. I had to hide my face, because the images of her hitting the floor with her backside nearly had me in stitches. I calmed myself and got back to the task at hand. I whispered into her ear in such a low tone that I knew Alpha Quinn and Finnley wouldn’t be able to hear me through the bedroom door.
"Get dressed. I'll get the others to meet us in the woods. We need to leave right away. Azael will be preoccupied with Freya, he won't bother to come looking for us. It's our only chance to escape this mansion and his clutches, once and for all."
She nodded in agreement while moving away from me to put on some clothes. I hurried over to the dressing table and when Kali walked into the bathroom, I pulled open the drawer. Placed inside the drawer were two invitations to the Thirty-One Overlook hotel. I plucked them out of the drawer, then thrust them into my back pocket while looking around to make sure that Kali hadn't seen me. For my plan to work, to be rid of her for good, I needed help, and I couldn't think of anyone better than, Victor Alexander. His hotel was infamous among the Sires of our kind, it was a place where anything was possible, and it was a favorite spot for vampire royalty. No rules, and more than enough virgin blood to go around.
I was never interested in hanging out there, although I had met Victor there a few times, and he actually owed me a favor. So, when I finally decided to take care of Kali, once and for all, he was the first person I thought of. Shortly after asking for his help, as if by magic, the invitations appeared. I didn't know what plan he'd come up with, he just told me to get her to the hotel, and he would take care of the rest. I trusted the guy, but she was strong, and if it didn't work, then I'd be screwed. She didn't know yet, that once we left the hunters mansion, insanity would begin to consume her, well more than usual that is.
See, Azael had been secretly feeding her his fallen angel blood for years. Once she’d been cut off, she would eventually become a bloodthirsty zombie, hell-bent on getting back to him and his blood. I couldn’t have that, without me right by her side she would tell everyone that it was me that killed my father. I'd lose my position as Sire, be chained up, and left to starve for eternity. If that happened, I would never be able to save Freya and make her my Queen. I took in a deep breath as Kali emerged from the bathroom. She wore her tight leather pants and a top that left very little to the imagination. Her mousy brown hair was slicked back into a ponytail that swung behind her as she walked toward me.
"Let's blow this joint!" She said with a grin.
I faked a smile of my own and tried my best to control the thump of my nervous heart. If she sensed it, I'd never be able to convince her to leave with me. We made our way over to the window, where she ascended and spread out her giant black wings. Holding out her arms, I instantly embraced her. She jumped out of the window and we began to soar through the sky. As I looked down, I could see all four of my siblings running off into the woods. We flew over the trees and into the night.
We left my siblings safely at the castle, with the rest of the brood looking after them. I packed up two suitcases and put them into the car. Kali wanted to spend some time at the castle, because we hadn’t been there in over a decade, but there wasn’t time. It took some convincing, but after mentioning that the Thirty-One Overlook hotel was having a masquerade ball, and had virgin blood on tap, she pretty much dragged me out of the castle. We drove for almost forty-eight hours, and by the time we arrived at the hotel, I was exhausted. Kali didn’t offer to help with the driving, of course, and spent most of the trip sleeping. The more time that past the harder I found it to resist the urge to snap her selfish neck.
"Sam?... Samael? Hello? Are you listening to me?" she shouted while holding a glass of whiskey in front of my face. I broke out of my daze, taking the glass from her, before replying,
"Yes, Lilith, I'm listening."
"Then what did I just say, hmm?" She asked with a raised eyebrow, and a smug look on her face.
It was cute, being away from each other for so long, she had clearly forgotten that I could stay aware of my surroundings while I daydreamed. Years of my mind being pulled to the moon realm, taught me how to be aware of both worlds at the same time. I couldn't leave my body vulnerable back in the real world, while my mind was up there.
I sat back in my brown leather office chair, and took a sip of my vintage whiskey.
"You said, that there is still no word from Ashtaroth or Andras. The scouts can't find them anywhere, am I correct?"
She huffed, and rolled her eyes, then slumped down onto the chair opposite me.
"I still don't know how you do that. I could have sworn you weren't listening to me."
"Assume I'm always listening dear sister," I replied with a cheeky smirk.
She rolled her eyes at me again, but I could see the corner of her mouth curl a little. Just when I thought it was going to spread into a smile, the corner dropped again and her expression became one of sadness.
"I'm worried about them, Sam. I know that they do their own thing, and leave for long periods of time, but they have never been gone this long. At least not without any contact at all."
I gulped down the rest of my drink, sat forward, and placed my arms on the desk, holding my hands out for her. She sat forward and took my hands into hers. I stroked the backs of her hands with my thumbs and said softly,
"They will be fine Lil, they always are. I'm sure they are just off with some tramp. You know they've been pretty lost since Kali left."
"Yeah, and I still don't understand that either. I thought you were the love of her life, and you were getting married?" she asked me with a raised brow.
I sat back in my chair again and sighed. I'd gotten fed up of all the lying, but there was no way that I could tell the brood, or my siblings, that I'd had her kidnapped and imprisoned in that hotel. I had no choice but to keep lying and hope that they never learned the truth. It had been over two years without her, and people were only just giving up talking about her.
With another sigh I replied,
"I thought so too. Taking her to that hotel was the biggest mistake of my life. I knew powerful and ancient vampires, shifters, and other supernaturals went there, but I never thought she'd leave me for someone else. I guess the power they had, was too tempting for her to resist."
"Yeah, she was always a sucker for more power. I won't lie, it's been nice not having her here. She causes too much drama, and I like how the brood is without her. I just miss Ash and Andy, they are complete assholes, but they're family, it's not the same without them," she replied in a sad tone, before getting up to leave. She reached the door, and I called out to her,
"They will be back soon Lilith, you'll see."
She smiled softly at me, before leaving and closing the door gently behind her. I pulled my hand down my face, wondering what I was going to do. I couldn't bring them back for her. How can you bring people back from the dead?
They'd found out about Kali being locked up in the hotel. I hadn't taken into account about their mate bond. They had turned her, so she was able to communicate with them. When I had her locked up, and then returned to the castle without her, the guys went insane, insisting she would never run off and leave them. She'd left her hybrids with Azael at the hunter's mansion, so I assumed the others would buy her running off and leaving us.
The boys weren’t having any of it, and immediately ran off in search of her. They called me when they got to the hotel, letting me know that they had found Kali. I had no choice. There was no other way. Now, I must live with the constant nightmares.
Dear God, what have I done?
Freya Rose
I stood there staring in awe at my reflection in the mirror. Marik was on one side of me, Traian on the other. My pack were behind me, and the prospect of a bright future ahead of us had me feeling excited. Of course, there would be a lot of obstacles in our way, but I had faith in myself. I would do everything I possibly could to ensure a safe and secure future for all.
Selene made her way over to me and placed her hands on both of her son's shoulders. They each looked at me in the mirror, so I nodded, letting them know it was okay to do whatever Selene had told them in their minds. They each kissed my cheek, before moving away from me, ushering the rest of the group out of the room.
I heard the door click shut, while I scanned over my reflection. My new ashen gray wings were stunning. I ran my hand over their beautifully soft feathers. It was strange to me; I was used to the opaque hunter's wings. I had seen solid feathered wings before, Kali had black ones, and Azael had them too. Well, I'm guessing he used to before they were burned to pieces in the fall from heaven.
Selene slid her hand under my chin, grabbing a hold of my face a little tighter than I expected. The expression that awaited my gaze was one of dominance, and although she was trying to portray her power, with my new vampire senses, all I could feel was the vulnerability and fear coursing through her veins. I stood there silent, while she took lead of the conversation, and I won't lie, it wasn't where I was expecting it to go. Her face softened and head dropped as she said,
"Freya, you are now more powerful than I. You no longer have to follow my lead, if you choose not to. I am the one who will follow you, to the ends of the earth, and for eternity. I may have been labelled a Goddess, but I am far from it. Silly illusions and black magic..." She confessed as she casually strolled over to my bed, before gently taking a seat. I descended and sat on the bed next to her, she definitely had my attention.
"What do you mean Selene? I thought the old Gods made the moon realm for you and gave you powers to be able to survive there?"
"Yes, they did, but as the centuries passed, new Gods became popular, and the old Gods lost their power. Less and less people prayed to them, and before long, very few believed in them at all. They faded away into a deep slumber, taking with them the power they'd given me, and many others."
I turned to face her, still not quite understanding where she was going with all of this.
"So, how did you keep your powers and stay in the moon realm?"
She lowered her head, and sighed, before replying,
"Witch and warlock children."
"What?" I asked in a disturbed tone, I had no idea what she was saying.
"Freya, I am as to blame for the state of our supernatural community, than any other. Long ago, to keep my moon realm alive, I asked for help from a powerful warlock. He and his coven were able to feed me and my realm enough power for decades. In return, I kept them safe from werewolves and vampires. Once the older witches and warlocks aged, then died off, the younger members felt their deal died along with them. They refused to help me any longer. So, I began kidnapping their children, using the powerful and discarding the weak."
She raised her head up to look at me, her bright white hair almost covering her eyes. Through a few strands of her hair, I could see the glisten of tears that were readily rolling down her cheeks. As a friend, I should have comforted her, but as the future leader of all supernatural beings, all I wanted to do was choke the life out of her. In my head she was no better than Azael or Kali, using innocent people to gain power. As I struggled to hold my rage in, I thrust my hand forward and grabbed her face. With her lips all smooshed together, I knew she wouldn't be able to reply, as I said in a deep and authoritative voice,
"I don't know what you were trying to achieve by telling me this, Selene, because all I want to do right now is skin you alive. Get to the point, and quickly."
She looked up at me with fear clearly filling her eyes. I guess she knew exactly how powerful I was, even if I didn't have the slightest idea myself. She quickly pulled herself together, brushed her hair out of her face, then stood up off of the bed. Her demeanor morphed back into the strong and fearless woman I was used to. To be honest the sniveling wreck she'd just shown me wasn't exactly something I ever wanted to see again. It was more than a little uncomfortable, and frankly kinda pathetic.
"Fine, I will leave that story for another day. I wanted you to find out from me and not the magical community, or Azael. Look, my point is, I have done a lot in the past to hurt my people. I am now trying to change, and make it up to them. I don't want you making the same mistakes I did..."
"I'm not you Selene," I quickly cut her off.
"Yes, I know that Freya, but with the power you now possess, it is easy to get addicted, and before long, you'll crave even more. Look at Gideon, Azael and Kali. I don't want that for you. Power changes people, it makes them do horrendous things, that they normally would never even think of doing. Please just be careful, that's all I'm saying."
With that said, she turned and strolled out of the room. I sat on the bed dumbfounded by her speech. Less than ten minutes ago, I felt amazing, ready to take on the whole damn world. Now, well, now I felt a little crap. I was angry with her for even insinuating that I would ever be like her, Azael, Kali or Gideon. They all have evil sides to them, or let's face it, they are all evil through and through. That isn't me, is it?
My mind began to race and play me visions of everything I'd done to hurt people over the last few years. Ripping Balan's head off and throwing it across the dancefloor like a bowling ball. Putting my stiletto heel through Amber’s eye. Nearly ripping a few people apart, letting hunters die and be experimented on. Breaking Tristan and Mason's hearts, and killing Chase.
I sighed, as every last horrible thing that I'd done in my life swam around in my mind. Maybe she was right, I had more evil in me than I cared to admit. I needed to keep my head straight and I needed to make sure, no matter what, that I didn't turn out like any of them. God knows I was already on my way there.
"You won't be like them you know."
Without looking up I knew exactly who it was. With my new senses, I could smell her unique scent, and hear the beat of her heart, before she even walked into the room.
"What if I can't control myself, Savanah?" I asked as she sat down on the bed beside me. She slid her soft, delicate hand down my arm then linked her fingers with mine.
"I'll make sure you do, we all will. That's what we're here for. We are your family, strength and support. We are your pack. We will be your anchor, keeping you grounded, and I will be the glue between you and everyone else. When you feel like you're losing your grip on reality, I will be here to bring you back. Always and forever my precious Luna."
Her words were so comforting, like a warm blanket on the coldest of nights. Her calming voice swept over me, easing my chaotic mind instantly. I rested my head on her shoulder, and replied,
"Thank you, Savanah. I don't know what I'd do without you."
I sat there for a while listening to Savanah humming a beautiful lullaby. Before I knew it, I felt myself drifting off to sleep. I sensed Marik and Traian come into the room, but my eyes were too heavy to open. Traian silently scooped me up and placed me into the middle of the comfortable bed, then covered me up. I felt Savanah leave the room, and I expected the twins to follow, but they didn't.
Traian laid on the bed next to me, stroking my hair, while Marik climbed onto the bed and laid at my other side. He gently rested his head onto my shoulder and began to purr. The love I felt from them both was overwhelming, but soothing at the same time. I finally fell asleep, feeling the calmest and safest I had in a long time.
Freya Rose
I awoke still sandwiched between the twins. The low thump of their hearts was hypnotic, and strangely I could tell which beat belong to each. Marik's was slightly faster with the occasional skip, Traian's was slower and more consistent. Their heavy breathing filled my ears, and if I wasn't dying for a pee, it would have easily sent me back off to sleep. I stayed there for as long as I possibly could, but it was no use.
It’s either get up and run to the bathroom, or pee in the bed.
"I'd prefer the latter. As much as I adore you, laying in your pee-soaked sheets, is a little out of my comfort zone," Traian's sleepy, yet extremely sexy voice startled me.
I lay there stiff as a board, with my eyes tightly closed, and my cheeks beginning to flush. I had completely forgotten that he could hear my thoughts. I was used to keeping Selene out, but now I had to learn how to shut him out too. I felt him turn over on the bed, and before I had a chance to react, his lips were placing soft and delicious kisses on my neck. I let out a low moan, which in turn caused Marik's arm to tighten around my waist as he stirred.
I reached my hand up and slid it between my neck and Traian's face, squashing his lips in the process. As nice as his kisses felt, I really needed a pee, and if Marik woke up fully, I'd have two of them to resist. Right now, I didn't think I'd be able to resist one of them, let alone both.
My heart still ached for Mason, but the pain of knowing that he had slept with Imogen, and the ‘monster' comment he'd hissed at me, hurt beyond belief. I kept playing all of it, over and over in my mind, which squeezed out a lot of the love I felt for him, and replaced it with hatred. Add in the fact that he wouldn’t remember me now anyway, after the cloaking spell, and the fate of our relationship was pretty much sealed. I wished that things could have been different. I mean, I loved Tristan and Mason so damn much, but life had other plans for me, and them, by the looks of it.
Traian groaned as I pushed his face away from me. He collapsed onto the bed with a huff. My lip curled into a small grin, knowing how much I was affecting him. I slid Marik's arm off of my lower abdomen and instantly felt my bladder bulge. I didn't have long, but I knew I wanted to tease Traian a little more before I rushed off.
I threw the duvet off of my body, before lifting my leg and placing myself on top of Traian, making sure to press my crotch right into his. I chuckled with surprise when I felt his excited dick, eager and ready to greet me. He instantly placed his hands onto my hips and groaned while pushing me down, harder onto his member. I smiled down at him, as I placed my hands on top of his.
He let me take control, so I guided his hands up my body until they rested on my breasts. He gave them a gentle squeeze, and just as he began to sit up, I jumped off of him and sprinted toward the bathroom. When the door slammed behind me, I could hear him letting out a frustrated groan, which made me chuckle. I locked the door, before dancing out of my pajama bottoms, then finally throwing myself down onto the toilet.
I was surprised that the pee didn't shoot right out of me like a burst dam. Instead, it felt like it was trapped, making my tummy feel hard. I pushed a little and there it went, making me moan out with relief as it sped up. I didn’t think I'd ever enjoyed a pee so damn much. After finishing, I washed my hands, while cautiously glancing into the mirror, hoping what looked back at me wasn't a complete hot mess. Surprisingly, I looked pretty good, hair in a messy bun, slightly more tanned complexion than normal, and bright blue eyes that held a new sparkle.
"Vampire looks good on you," came a soft voice inside my head.
"Mina?"
I hadn't heard from her in weeks, not since being turned by Traian.
"Yeah, I'm here. How long have I been gone?" She asked quietly, she sounded a little sad, but I was just glad to hear her voice.
"Around two weeks, give or take. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I feel a little odd, but I'm okay."
"What do you mean by odd?" I asked curiously.
"Well, I feel stronger for one. Like I fell into a deep sleep, then awoke revitalized. My mind is clearer, I feel more connected to you, and not tied down by my mate bond to Lachlan."
"Who's Lachlan?"
"Oh yeah, you never knew Tristan's wolf's name, did you?"
I rolled my eyes knowing now why she didn't feel tied down by her mate bond to him.
"The cloaking spell, it worked."
"Oh, so does that mean the mate bond is gone forever, or until they remember us?" She asked in a sad tone.
"I'm not sure Mina, there are so many questions, I didn't ask before doing it. I think we need to have a meeting with Selene."
"I agree."
I finished washing my hands and decided to take a shower. After my shower, I placed a towel around my body, before opening the bathroom door. I gasped and froze on the spot. In front of me stood Traian and Marik, both half naked, in just their boxers and socks. Why do men leave their socks on? I asked myself.
"Because we don't want our feet to get cold," Traian replied out loud to my thought.
I blushed again. I really need to learn how to lock him out. I thought to myself, then instantly rolled my eyes knowing that he'd just heard that too. He chuckled as my cheeks flushed yet again. I stood there trying my best not to look at either of them, their defined bodies were more than enough to bring any woman, or man for that matter, to their knees. With Traian cemented in my mind, I didn't want him knowing how turned on I was. I kept my head lowered and my eyes staring at the floor. Mina had laughed at me, then left me to deal with this by myself. I am going to have stern words with her later, that's for sure.
While off in my mind, wondering how I would yell at Mina, I hadn't noticed Traian move towards me. When I did glance up, he was approaching me with eyes as black as night, filled with lust. My heart began to pound, it was so loud I could hear it in my ears. My head turned to follow Marik as he stalked behind me with the same lust-filled gaze as his brother. I gulped while turning back around to face Traian.
This is it, the mate bonding. Are we gonna do it right now? And oh my God, is he seriously biting his lip? Fuck, now I know how men feel when I do it. Screw it, let's do this!
Traian barely had time to release his lip from his teeth, when I launched myself at him like a crazed harpy. I had a plan in my head, that I'd grab his face and smash my lips onto his, but it didn't quite go to plan. His eyes widened in shock, and his arms reached out ready to catch me. With my new abilities as a vampire, I was a lot faster than I used to be. I tried to slow down but it was no use, I crashed right into him, sending us both hurtling to the floor. As the back of his head hit the, floor it sprung back up again, heading towards my face.
Crack!
The sound of his nose breaking beneath my forehead echoed through the room. I lifted my head and quickly pulled myself off of him. His hand shot up to his nose, making him groan as he tried to ease the bleeding.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry Tray. I..." I tried to apologize with my hands stretched out in front of me, as I backed away from him.
"Oh shit, what did you do?" Marik asked with a chuckle, but I was so focused on Traian, that I'd completely forgotten that Marik was there.
His sudden comment startled me, instantly making me ascend. My ashen gray wings fanned out, as I spun around to face him. I just caught a glimpse of Marik hopping backwards on one foot. When he spoke out, he was in the process of pulling his boxers off. I squealed at the sight, quickly trying to cover my eyes with my hands, and as I did, I pulled my wings in to wrap them around myself.
"Arrggghh shit!" Marik screamed out.
My new wings were a lot larger than I was used to and they'd clipped him, while I tried to use them as a shield. I instantly opened them up again, only to gasp as I saw Marik's sock-covered feet exit out of the window.
"Oh my God, Marik!"
I sprinted to the window and tried to grab his foot. With my extra speed, I did actually manage to grip ahold of his foot, but within seconds, all that was left in my hand was his crisp white sock. I turned away when I heard the thud of Marik's body hit the ground below us.
"I'm okay," he called up pretty quickly.
I placed my hands on the ledge of the window seal as I peered out, scared to look what mess he was in. I burst out laughing. I couldn't help it, the site that greeted me, was hilarious. He was sprawled out, face-first on the ground, with his bare ass completely on show, his boxers around his ankles and only one sock on. I quickly ducked back into the room when the pack ran out to check on him. I was laughing so hard that I collapsed to the floor.
"Well, that went well," Traian said sarcastically, making me laugh even harder.
I looked up at him with tears streaming down my face. He was sitting on the bed, with his head forward, pinching his nose. When he glanced over at me, he couldn't help but laugh along with me. I stood up as my giggles began to ease and made my way over to him. I descended and pushed gently on his shoulder, making him sit up straight. He moved back on the bed slightly, when I placed my knee beside his hip. I pulled up the other knee so I could straddle him.
Holding his face, I smashed my lips onto his, just like I had planned to do in the first place. His lips moved around mine like they had been kissing me for years. It was strange how perfect the kiss was. It was like he had anticipated my every move. I stopped kissing him and pulled away, and while staring into his confused eyes, I asked,
"Can you not do that?" He tilted his head slightly so I replied in my mind, “listen to my thoughts while we kiss. It's weird. You're not supposed to know what I'm going to do, until I do it.”
His lips curled into a smile, and as he leaned in for another kiss, I quickly shoved my hand in his face, smooshing his lips. I made sure I'd opened my fingers enough to avoid his nose. He peered through my fingers, and his shocked expression made me chuckle.
“Sorry, Tray, you killed the moment,” I thought to myself, thinking that he would be listening, but he didn't reply or react, he just sat there, face squished, peering at me through my fingers.
"So now you turn it off?" I said with an eye roll.
"Huh?" he replied.
I pulled myself up and got off of the bed. I heard him groan while I put on my underwear, a pair of black leggings, and a grey tank top. I glanced over at him before I left, and said,
"The moment is gone, maybe we can try this another time. I'll meet you downstairs once that's gone down," I pointed towards his erection.
He groaned again, picked up a pillow and pushed it into his face. I shook my head and left the room. I could hear him scream into the pillow as I walked down the stairs, and I couldn't help but laugh. I reached the bottom of the stairs and made my way into the living room. Marik was laying on the couch. I stared at him with an eyebrow raised and he just winked back at me with a cheeky grin. With a flush of my cheeks, I turned toward the glass doors and made my way outside. I could hear the pack hunting in the woods, but Savanah and Finn had stayed behind. They were sat on the loungers and had one empty between them.
"We saved you a seat. There's coffee here too, and some lunch," Savanah said without even turning around.
"Thank you, Savanah."
I sat down on the lounger and picked my coffee up from the floor. I glanced over at Finn and he instantly looked away.
"You need to look at me sometime, Finn," I snapped with an eye roll. I was fed up of him avoiding me, he needed to get over his damn self.
He sighed heavily, and to my surprise, rather than reply to me, he got up and strolled away. I turned my head to watch as he made his way into the cabin. Turning back around, I brought my cup to my lips and growled lightly into my coffee as I took a sip.
"Just give him some time Freya. He's struggling with your transition. He is worried that you're going to end up like Kali," Savanah explained in a calm voice.
I sighed gently while placing my coffee onto the floor.
"I'm not turning into Kali. I'll always be me, I'm sure of it."
"I know this, but he had to watch Kali kill his Fianna. That's a moment he can never un-see. Because you look very similar to your aunt, he's struggling the most with your change." She placed a reassuring hand on my arm and gave it a squeeze.
"I need to talk to Selene, have you seen her?" I asked as I leaned back on the lounger.
"Yeah, she shifted and ran off into the woods to join the hunt..."
She paused for a moment, stood up and edged toward the pool. I shot up when her head titled back and she let out an almighty shriek, sending a bright white beam into the sky as she levitated into the air.
"Savanah? What's wrong?" I screeched while running over to her. I grabbed her hand and quickly ducked as her wings flew out, completing her ascension. slowly spinning around to face me, she began to speak,
"The children. All those precious children. She can’t do it again..."
Her words were almost a cry, she had so much emotion in her voice. She gently placed her feet on the floor before putting her hands on either side of my head. I screamed out as visions of thousands of children flashed before my eyes. Each one tortured and tormented until they unleashed their powers. Tears began to stream down my face when I saw the children with weak powers being drained of their blood, then thrown to the floor like trash. I watched as a white-haired woman sank her teeth into another frightened child. When the child had become limp, she whipped her head back, making me inhale in shock. Selene dragged her arm across her face, wiping the poor child's blood from her lips, before dropping him to the floor.
When Savanah removed her hands from my head, I fell to my knees and sobbed. I was overcome with emotion. I could feel the pain and fear from every one of those children. I broke down into my hands, and all I wanted to do was curl up into a ball. Savanah crouched down, lifted my chin, and gazed into my eyes. With her bright white eyes staring into mine, a warm and calming feeling washed over me, and my tears began to dry. She smiled softly while she swept her thumb across my cheek, catching one of the last fallen tears.
"We need to save the children," she said in a voice I hadn't heard before, it was deeper than normal and it echoed slightly, like we were inside a bubble all of our own. Any other noise was gone, and all I could hear was her.
"How? That was such a long time ago, those children are long dead."
She floated her hands up to my temples again, making my head shoot back as new visions invaded my mind. I could see two young teens. A boy and a girl, around sixteen or seventeen years old. They were huddled together, crouched down behind a large rock. The boy had his arms wrapped around the girl, and one of his hands was placed over her mouth, clearly trying to stifle her screams. They looked petrified, and I could see exactly why. Approaching them was an enormous white Lycan, and it looked about ready to rip them apart.
When Savanah removed her hands, I fell forward, slamming my palms onto the ground. I inhaled deeply while my rage built, making my body shake with adrenaline. I clenched my fists and slammed them into the ground while letting out a ferocious growl.
"Go!" Savanah screamed out, and as soon as the words left her lips, I shifted and took off towards the woods. My speed hitting an all new level as my vampire abilities came into play.
Samael Wulf
I watched while my brothers formulated a plan to rescue Kali. They stood in front of the Overlook hotel. Ash was resting his arm around Andy's shoulder while he pointed towards an open window. Clutching onto the stake that I'd brought with me, my hand shook uncontrollably, as I silently edged towards my brothers. My heart was screaming at me to drop my stake and find another way, but my head knew, there was no other choice. If they rescued Kali, my secrets would be out. She'd stop at nothing to exact her revenge. I couldn't risk it, I'd finally got rid of the evil bitch from mine and my brood’s lives, there was no way I could let her poison seep back in.
With a deep breath and a tear rolling down my cheek, I clasped ahold of Andra's shoulder, and before he even had a chance to turn his head, I thrust my stake through his back. I yanked on his shoulder and plunged my stake deeper into his heart. His body instantly began turning to dust beneath my fingers, and as he hit the ground, he burst into a cloud of ash. As if in slow motion I turned and focused on Ashteroth’s snarling face, trying my best to ignore the tiny pieces of our brother that were floating all around us. With his brilliant white fangs glistening in the moonlight, Ash hurried towards me.
I reacted without a second thought, bringing my stake close to my chest, and aimed it right at his heart. As soon as my stake pierced through his skin, he came to a standstill. We stared into each other's eyes for what felt like an eternity. I watched as his snarling expression morphed into one of confusion and betrayal. For a split second, his face softened, and I could have sworn I saw acceptance in his eyes. His body then burst into fragments of dust, that were swept away with the cold night's breeze.
I jolted up in bed, gasping for air. Sweat dripped down my back as I tried to catch my breath by inhaling deeply, before closing my eyes and exhaling. I should be used to waking up like this by now, it’s been over two years since that night, I thought as I ran my hand down my clammy face. Throwing the covers off of me, I got out of bed and headed towards the bathroom for a much-needed shower. Once washed and dressed I made my way out of my room, down the corridor, and towards my office.
Every day felt like I was just going through the motions. The extreme pain, and overwhelming emptiness hit me all at once, then stayed with me all day. I had no idea if I’d ever get back to normal. Turning the handle, I pushed on the door and entered my office.
"Morning, Sam."
I froze on the spot, her words ringing in my ears. I didn't expect to see her, not here, not now.
"Selene, what the hell are you doing here? Is Freya okay?"
Freya Rose
My paws dug deep into the dirt while I sprinted as fast as I could towards the teenagers.
"Welcome back Mina," I greeted in my mind when I felt her trying to take over my wolf form.
"We haven't got time for pleasantries, Freya, I've got this. You gather the pack,” she yelled out in my mind, more dominant than I'd heard before.
There was no sense of sarcasm, and I could hear how panicked she was. Without even answering, I gave her control and began to mind link the pack.
"Listen up. This is an emergency. You need to meet me at the south side of the lake."
"Why? What's happened? I'm kinda busy, and..." Odin started to reply.
"Now!" I bellowed through my mind, and I'm sure I could feel his nerves all around me.
I didn't know if I'd imagined it, or if it was a new ability from the vampire senses. To be honest, at this point I was losing track of all the new abilities.
"It's an order Odin, do not disobey me. I don't care what you're doing. Right now, your Luna is telling you to get your ass to the south side of the lake, so you do it,” I demanded, pretty much screaming into my head.
"Yes, Luna, of course."
"Okay, now, I need all of you to shut Selene out, right now!"
I could hear muttering and whispers inside my mind, but after yelling at Odin, I knew that all of the others wouldn't dare question me. Well, almost all.
"Freya, what is this about?" A deep voice full of dominance boomed inside my mind.
"Traian, please trust me. I can explain everything, but not now."
Mina, sped up, darting in and out of the trees with ease. I knew we weren't far from the kids.
"Open your mind to me, I will see everything, you won't need to explain," Traian replied softly.
"How?"
"Just calm down, breathe, and think of me."
Despite the seriousness of the situation, Mina couldn't help but snigger at the thoughts that were running through my mind. Traian sat on the floor, blood dripping from his nose after I'd head-butted him.
"Yeah, thank you for sharing that Freya, " Traian said sarcastically.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry, one sec.”
I concentrated as hard as I could, and as I did, I felt my mind go a little hazy. I didn't know if it affected Mina too, but by the way she was running through the trees, I guessed it didn't. To me, it sounded and felt like I had my head in a goldfish bowl. I could feel Traian's presence, and quickly images of Selene's Lycan and the teenagers flashed before me.
"Crap, not again. Damn it, mother. I thought she'd stopped doing this. Freya this is very serious, when you reach my mother, I need you to stay back. Don't get close to her."
"What? No, I need to stop her..."
"No Freya! You don't understand. I'm on my way, please do not approach her. Please Freya, I'm begging you..." He pleaded with me, but he was too late as Mina skidded to a stop right behind Selene's beautiful white Lycan.
I could feel the teenagers fear all around me. I could hear their hearts beating faster than humanly possible, making their blood rush through their veins. As my new senses kicked in, everything moved in slow motion and I could pick out every little detail of my surroundings.
The faint sound of pounding of paws against the dirt-covered ground as my pack approached. The thud of another set of paws, quicker and louder than the others. I knew it was Marik. The smell of the moss on the bark of the trees, and the adrenalin-filled perspiration that was dripping down the teenager's foreheads. My senses gradually tuned out all other sounds, birds chirping, the water gently lapping against the rocks, my approaching pack. Then it tuned out the smells, the crisp fresh air, the faint scent of car fumes, and the perspiring teens. The feelings were next to vanish, the girl and boys fear. The excitement, nervousness, and worry from my pack. The complete panic from Marik and Traian. Eventually, all that was left was Selene, and she now had my full and undivided attention.
For the first time since becoming a werewolf, Mina and I became one. I didn’t exactly know how it happened, or why, but every thought and every movement was merged. We planted our front paws firmly on the ground, digging our claws into the mud as we lifted our head and howled into the air. The howl was mixed with my screech of ascension. We began to levitate into the air, and to both of our surprise, a set of giant wings burst through our wolf forms back. It had never happened before, and for a split second it confused the pair of us. As we levitated higher into the air, Selene's Lycan shot around and snarled up at us, drool dripping out of her ferocious mouth. The teens were sat there with a mix of fear and awe in their eyes.
We focused back on the white Lycan below us, she was reaching up and swatting at us like a cat trying to catch a bird. A chuckle echoed through our mind. Mina was amused at Selene's failed attempts to get us. That chuckle ceased when the Lycan's eyes began to glow a brilliant ice blue color. It placed its feet apart and squatted slightly, before letting out a deafening howl. The shock waves from the beast’s roar hit us, making us fly backwards. We beat our wings a few times to steady ourselves, but before we had a chance to right our posture, Selene's Lycan leapt into the air, plucking us out of the sky, and slammed us into the ground.
"Freya!" We heard Traian scream out as he rushed past us and tackled his mother to the floor. She snarled at him, trying to snap at his face, but luckily, he was too fast for her and in a split second, he was beside us.
"I told you to stay back. You haven't been trained to fight her. She is stronger, faster, and smarter than you,” he spoke into our mind.
Mina didn't like his analysis of us and immediately growled at him. She didn't believe a word he was saying, and to honest, neither did I. We dragged ourselves up off of the floor and howled into the air. Brilliant white flames surrounded our body, feeding us power and strength. I could see blue electric sparks coming from the flames that had engulfed us, and it made Traian back up in shock.
"You have no idea what power we hold," Mina and I thought in synchronicity.
Which was right, because neither did we. Traian's face softened into a side smirk. The twinkle in his eyes showed us that he was indeed impressed by us. He tipped his head to us as he bowed and aimed his arms toward his mother, letting us know he was backing down and leaving us to it. Selene's Lycan had stood up and was now preparing to attack. I could hear Marik coming up fast behind us.
"Marik."
"I'll stop him, go!" Traian shouted into our mind then took off in a blur.
We shot our head back around to Selene, who was a little closer than I'd have liked. Selene reached out and tried to grab us, but as soon as her gigantic paw met our white electrical flames, she snatched it back and screeched out in pain. Our eyes grew wide as we watched her sprint towards the lake, waving her flame engulfed arm in the air. Power and superiority washed over Mina and I. We knew now, what Selene was so worried about earlier. We were virtually untouchable. Traian ran up beside us, closely followed by an extremely naked Marik. Mina purred with lust as soon as we spotted him. I rolled our eyes as he shot a wink towards us.
All of our attention was diverted as we heard Selene splash into the water.
"Holy shit. Would you look at that," Marik said while pointing towards Selene.
We turned our head and watched as the Lycan thrust its flaming arm into the lake. It screamed out when the water extinguished the flames. Our eyes followed the steam that floated up into the air, and then gradually brought our gaze back down to see a shifting Selene. Her frame shrank, and every part of the extraordinary white Lycan disappeared, being replaced with the familiar sight of Selene's human form. Once she had shifted fully, she held her arm out in front of her as she approached the bank. The twins cleared their throats, instantly turning away from their naked mother.
When Selene reached the bank, she collapsed onto her knees and began to sob. My pack finally arrived, they must have been further away than I'd thought, or us three were a lot faster than I'd imagined. Either way, my pack stood there in confusion, wondering what they had missed. Some stared at Selene, while others couldn't take their eyes off of me and my new flames.
"Traian, can you take the teens back to the cabin please?" I asked him through our link as I edged towards his mother.
"But what about you?"
"We'll be fine, trust me."
He didn't protest and did as I asked. He approached the teens and I could sense their fear immediately, but as he began to speak to them, I could feel them relax. He was using his power of persuasion and it was working perfectly. The teens got up and began to follow along with him.
"I need you all to head back to the cabin. We will be along soon," I ordered the pack. Gradually and without protest, they began to leave.
“Marik, can you head back with the pack please?”
“Of course, little wolf.”
I waited for them all to be out of sight before I shifted into my human form. Extinguishing my new electrical flames along with my shift. I approached the broken mess of a woman that was Selene. She was knelt on the ground, her wounded arm held out in front of her while she sobbed. I stood in front of her and inspected her arm. I was surprised to see that it wasn't healing. The skin was red raw and melted, some parts were black and singed. The smell was glorious and horrendous at the same time. I guess the hunter side of me found the smell appealing, but the vampire and werewolf sides of me found it repulsive.
I knelt down on the floor in front of Selene, holding my hand out towards her arm. She snatched it away from me, while gradually lifting her head to look at me. I expected a scowl or a snarl, but what I got shocked me. With mascara filled tears streaming down her face, she gazed at me with pure panic and sorrow. With a soft and sympathetic sigh, I asked,
"Why isn't it healing?"
She peeked at her wrecked arm while pulling her legs around to sit on the ground. Before she had a chance to answer, she snarled, making me shoot my head around to see who was approaching. His scent hit me immediately.
"Traian."
Seconds after the name left my lips, his speeding blur entered the clearing. He halted in front of us holding some clothes for us both. Without saying a word, he handed me the clothes then sprinted away, vanishing in a flash.
"Thank you," I said through our link.
"You're welcome my little Rose."
I stood up and put on the clothes that he'd brought me. Once dressed I edged closer to Selene, holding out a pair of black leggings and a strappy top. She stood, and took the leggings with her good hand. She lifted her leg to put them on, but instantly fell to the ground and began to sob again. I took the leggings, pushed my thumbs down the leg so that they were ruffled. I placed it at her foot and pushed the leggings up one leg, then the other. I held my hand out for her to take, and we both stood. I pulled her leggings up and then carefully put her top on, making sure to avoid touching her arm.
The vulnerable and broken woman that stood in front of me, broke my heart. I'd never had thought she could be this weak. She'd always projected so much power and dominance. Looking at her now, she was a shell of a woman, nowhere near the Goddess that she should be. As the thoughts clouded my mind, Mina managed to break through and said,
"Maybe your blood will help her heal?"
"That's a fantastic idea, Mina, thank you."
Without hesitation, I brought my wrist up to my lips and tried to extend my vampire fangs for the first time. I closed my eyes and concentrated. Within seconds I could feel them growing inside my mouth. It was surprisingly easier than I'd expected. Once extended, I placed them onto my wrist and tore open my vein. Blood gushed out of the wound, and quickly began trickling down my arm.
Selene sniffed the air and hissed at me. Her eyes wide with hunger and temptation, but she was holding back. She shook her head and backed away slightly. I didn't give her the opportunity to object, quickly sprinting towards her, I shoved my wrist into her mouth and held the back of her head, so she couldn't pull away. As soon as my rich crimson blood hit her lips, her fangs extended before being plunged into my vein. She drank as hard as she could, and it wasn't long before I knew she'd drink me dry if she was allowed to. I tried to pull my wrist out of her mouth, but she grabbed a hold of my arm and sank her talons into it, making sure I couldn't yank it away.
"Selene, stop." I tried to yank my arm away, but she had a death grip on it.
"Enough!" I bellowed into the air as I held my hand to the side and ignited it.
Bright white flames and blue electrical flashes engulfed my hand, and as soon as she spotted it, she retracted her talons and fangs, before hissing at me, and backing away. She shuffled back so quickly that she stumbled and fell to the ground. I watched as her arm quickly began to heal, skin knotting back together, raw flesh being covered back up, it was an amazing sight. Staring up at me with black eyes and a furious expression, she prepared herself to tackle me. While glancing at my blood dripping down her chin, I positioned myself ready for her attack.
"Seriously? You wanna go again?" She hissed at my questions, clearly wanting to fight me. I shook my head with an over-exaggerated eye roll. "Fine if you need me to kick your ass again, then let's do this. But be warned, I won't be feeding you my blood again. I will leave you here broken and dying on this forest floor."
Freya Rose
Selene howled into the air as she charged towards me. I ascended, revealing my magnificent grey wings. I wanted to fight her a little first because Traian's words kept swimming around in my mind, ‘you haven't been trained to fight her yet. You're not strong enough.’ Knowing that I could ignite and stop her at any moment, gave me the confidence I needed to fight her. I prepared myself to jump into the air as soon as she reached me, but I didn't get the opportunity. From the corner of my eye, I saw a blur.
"Traian, no. She's mine!" I screamed out in dominance, but he didn't listen.
He tackled her to the floor, pinning her to the ground. Within a few seconds, I could smell Marik approaching. I huffed and descended. I felt like stomping my foot on the floor, but I didn't want to look childish. Instead, I stormed off shouting a few profanities. Marik slowed down as I charged towards him.
"Little wolf?" He asked softly.
I just replied with a scowl and an extremely erected middle finger. I could hear him chuckling as I continued to walk towards the cabin.
How the hell am I supposed to be the leader of all supernatural beings, if men keep coming along to rescue me? Don't they understand? I need to train. I need to get stronger and hone my abilities. Azael isn't going to go easy on me, and I have no idea what type of army he will have when the time comes to fight him. I need to be the strongest I can be.
My stomping became less aggressive as I neared the cabin. I was still fuming, but I needed to calm myself before I met the young teens. The last thing they needed was to be frightened half to death by me. They'd been through enough already today. I took in a deep breath as I reached the pool, just outside the cabin. A sudden scent swept past my nose, carried on the wind. I lifted my head and sniffed the air deeply. It was a scent I recognized, chard flesh and ash.
"Gideon!"
I turned on my heel and began to follow the scent, after what he did to me, I wanted to rip the fucker apart.
"Freya, no," Savanah's soft voice called out. I turned around and saw her standing at the sliding glass doors. Her face was pleading with me as she shook her head. "You can see him later; these kids need to speak to you."
I sighed with a nod. I did as I was asked, and made my way towards her. She held her arm out and ushered me inside. When I entered the cabin it was empty, all except the two frightened teens, who were sat on the couch. The boy had his arm wrapped over the girl's shoulder, and a blanket had been placed around them both. The girl was clutching hold of a cup of hot chocolate, and I could see her hands visibly shaking. Most would assume it was from being cold, but I could smell her fear.
I sat down on the couch opposite them, and the girl backed up a bit. I held my hands out and said in a soft tone,
"It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you. I'm Freya, and this is my pack. You are safe here, I promise."
The girl smiled slightly, but the boy just scoffed,
"Yeah right, what the hell kind of pack is this? I saw werewolves, vampires, and whatever the fuck you are," he pointed at me with disgust, and the girl quickly slapped his hand down.
"Draco, don't be so rude."
"No Lorena. I'm not being nice to this thing until it tells me exactly what it is..." I burst out laughing which cut his speech off, I couldn't help it, I loved the guts this kid had. "And where they have my father stashed."
As soon as those words escaped his mouth, I hissed into the air, trying my best to stop myself from grabbing the little shit by the throat. But I knew it wasn't his fault who his dad was. They both sat back in their seats, the stench of their fear filling my nose. I sat back in my seat and sighed. Savanah handed me a cup of coffee before taking a seat next to me.
"Look I'm sorry for my reaction. You're Gideon's son?"
He shuffled around in his seat a little, then replied,
"Yes, where is he?"
My expression softened when I heard the worry and concern in his voice.
"He's safe, but I don't know his fate as yet. He attacked me and tried to kill me..." I explained as honestly as I could.
"No, no he wouldn't. He isn't like that. You're lying! You kidnapped him for his power." The boy became agitated and stood up while he shouted at me.
"Sit the fuck down!" Marik yelled from the sliding doors, Lorena began to scream and cry hysterically, and Draco quickly sat down and held the girl.
I turned to scowl at Marik, not liking the fact that he felt the need to defend me. I was getting fed up of this and would definitely have to have a word with the pair of them. I could tell that if he wasn't gripping hold of Selene, he would have had that boy up the wall by his throat.
"Get her out of here!" I yelled out, trying to make myself heard over the girls incessant screaming.
Glancing over to Savanah she nodded, knowing exactly what I wanted. I hadn't had a chance to practice my vampire powers of persuasion, so I needed her to calm the girl down for me. Savanah headed over to Lorena and placed her hands on either side of her head. I don't know how or what she did, but the girl began to calm down, and her screams ceased. The twins had taken Selene into the basement, and I mind linked Traian to tell them both to stay down there for a bit.
Once Lorena had calmed down, Savanah moved over to Draco and placed her hands on his temples. His head shot back, making him slump onto the couch. I guessed she was showing him a vision. When she finished, he crouched forward and gasped for air. When he had taken a few deep breaths, he tilted his head slightly to glance up at me.
"You're a Phoenix?" I nodded at him in reply. He shook his head then placed it in his hands. "He promised he wouldn't do that again. He's been clean for so long. I don't understand why he'd start hunting down Phoenix’s again.”
Lorena reached over and placed her hand on Draco's back, and while gently rubbing it, she leaned in and said,
"Oh Draco, I am so sorry. I know how hard it hit you last time. I can't believe after what happened to your mom, he would dare to go back on Phoenix power. What the hell is he thinking?" She sounded concerned, but as her speech continued, her voice became one of pure anger.
"Please, Lorena, enough. I know what you're saying, but..." He paused to glance up at me and Savanah.
I was just frozen, with my mouth hanging open slightly, listening in to their conversation. I must have looked like one of those weird plants waiting for a fly to come past. I looked at Savanah and she had her eyebrows raised and was awkwardly avoiding all eye contact.
"I feel like I'm intruding on their private moment," Savanah mind linked me.
"I know, me too. But I wanna learn as much about Gideon as I can."
"Do you want me to read his memories tonight, while he's sleeping?" She questioned through the link.
I turned to her and raised an eyebrow.
"You can do that?"
"Yeah, people are more willing to open up while they're sleeping." She said it like it was nothing.
It made me wonder if she had done it to me over the past year or two. The thought had me a little worried. The idea of her knowing some of the personal things I've done or thought, made me blush a little.
"What are you mind linking? Is it about my dad?" Draco snapped. I shot my head around with a hiss. He jumped back. "Fuck, you're a vampire too? What the hell are you?" He demanded an answer with a little more dominance in his voice than I cared for.
I tilted my head to the side when I saw a flame flash in his dark brown eyes.
"What?" Lorena asked me in concern, before pulling Draco's face towards her. "Crap. Draco, you're a Dragon!"
"What!? No, no I can't be. Please, God, anything but that," he cried out, obviously devastated with being a Dragon, whatever that might be.
"Shhh, it’s okay, we will figure this out. I won’t let you turn into your father. I promise. Gideon can’t know about this."
I nudged Savanah in the arm with my elbow, and when she glanced at me, I tilted my head towards the garden. She nodded in agreement, before going over to Lorena and Draco. I got up and made my way to the sliding doors. I mind linked the pack and told them all to go shopping or something. Have a few hours of relaxation time. I then sat down on the lounger and mind linked Traian.
“Hey, you got her all settled down there?”
“Yeah, we fed her some sleepers. She’ll be out cold for a few hours. Can we come up yet?” He asked, although his voice sounded a little annoyed at having to ask permission.
“Yes, can you both meet me outside, please?”
“Of course, let me run up and get Marik some clothes first. He insists he doesn’t need them, but I’m fed up of looking at his junk.”
I didn’t reply, I couldn’t, I was laughing too hard. Savanah soon joined me with four coffees. The woman was outstanding, more like a psychic than an oracle. She always knew just what I needed. She placed the tray onto the table at the side of the loungers, then took a seat next to me.
“Thank you, Savanah. How are they doing?”
“They’re fine. A little shaken up and confused, but they will be okay with time. We need to discuss this dragon business,” she said with seriousness and worry.
“I know, but we will wait for Traian and Marik. Maybe they’ve heard of it all before?”
“Yeah, maybe. I tried to read Draco’s mind, but he blocked me out. I managed to calm them down and hopefully, they will sleep soon. I can then explore his unconscious without him fighting against me.”
“That sounds like a plan,” I replied while picking up my coffee cup.
Traian came out through the sliding doors to join us. He walked around the lounger and to my surprise, he picked me up. I was going to protest, ask him what the fuck he thought he was doing. But when I saw his face filled with torment, I resisted the urge to be dominant. He sat down on the lounger, placing me onto his lap. His large arms wrapped around my body, while he rested his head on my chest. I stroked his raven hair as he took in my scent. There was a sire bond there that I couldn’t deny, and at that moment, I just wanted to make him feel better.
“What’s wrong, Traian?” I mind linked him.
“Nothing little Rose. I just wanted to hold you.”
I knew that wasn’t all it was, but he clearly didn’t want to divulge anything, so I just let him hold me. Eventually, his body relaxed, allowing me a little breathing space. I used the opportunity to get off of his lap and sat next to Savanah. By the look of his face, he wasn’t best pleased. He titled his head at me and shot me a slight scowl. My response was to roll my eyes and shake my head. His eyebrows raise to his forehead as he leaned his head forward. In a ‘really?’ kinda way. We were pretty much having an entire conversation, with no words or mind linking. It was just an exchange of scowls and dirty looks. Thankfully Marik joined us and broke up our silent argument. He walked over to me and bent down to place a kiss on my cheek.
“Hey little wolf,” he greeted me after the kiss.
When he stood back up, he looked at me, but I was still giving Traian the evil eye. By now it was more of a battle of the wills. He wanted to be the dominant force in this relationship, or whatever ‘this' was, and I wasn’t having any of it. Marik glanced over at his brother, then let out a little chuckle as he sat beside him. Traian huffed out of his nose at his brother, but he didn’t remove his glare from mine. Marik had clearly had enough of the tension, and when he slapped Traian on the back he said,
“So, why is there a dragon in the cabin?” Traian and I both shot our glances to Marik, making him squirm around in his seat as we stared at him. He rubbed the back of his neck, while his eyes flitted between mine and Traian’s. “What? What did I say? Was it a secret or something?”
“How do you know he’s a dragon?” I asked him outright, not bothering to wait for Traian to speak up.
“I can smell him a mile off. They are extremely rare, but I have met one who turned into an actual dragon. It’s a very distinctive smell,” he replied, then after screwing his face up in disgust, he continued, “yeah, it’s like a burnt lizard shit, kinda smell. And don’t bother asking me how I know what that smells like, I’ve had a pretty wild life.”
“He means literally living out in the wild, not like partying wild,” Traian added with a smirk.
Marik just shrugged as if to say, ‘yeah and?’ I couldn’t be bothered to get into the sibling rivalry bullshit. I needed to know more about this dragon boy, and work out if he was a threat.
“Tell me everything you know about dragons,” my voice was a little snappier than I’d intended, but I didn’t care, I was worried.
Marik raised an eyebrow then nodded his head.
“Okay, so here is what I know. They shift just like we do, but into much larger beasts. They shift into dragons.”
Savanah gasped before grabbing my head in both hands.
“I was trying to make sense of this for weeks.”
“Make sense of what?” I asked, but didn’t get a verbal reply.
I screamed out in agony as she thrust her visions into my mind. She didn’t bother to push gently against my thoughts, she just ripped her way through them like a wolf’s claws tearing through flesh. She showed me the vision that she drew back at the hunter’s mansion. There I was on top of a cliff like before, but this time, instead of Tristan, Mason, and Samael standing beside me, they we now behind me, and Traian and Marik were beside me.
Bellow us were masses upon masses of the supernatural community. They were all cheering and chanting my name. It felt amazing to see everyone together. Just when I thought the vision was going to finish a monstrous shriek filled my brain. I watched in awe as a giant ashen grey dragon flew above us on the cliff. He circled around, then landed next to me. The vision ended with the dragon lowering its head, and me petting it.
“Now it makes perfect sense. I didn’t believe they were real, so the vision threw me.”
Savanah took her hands away from my face and sat back on the lounger.
“So, you mean to tell me, that I currently have an unstable boy upstairs in my room, who can shift into a gigantic dragon at any moment?” I asked Marik in a sarcastic tone.
“No, don’t panic. Very few of them can actually shift. They need enough flame power to awaken the ancient curse,” he replied casually.
“Wait, so Gideon's a dragon too, right?” He nodded in reply. “So, what the fuck was your mother playing at, bringing him here to help me?” I shot up to my feet in a rage. “She basically dangled pure power in front of him, and expected him not to take it? Or was she hoping he did, so I wouldn’t be more powerful than her? Did she make a deal with him?” I paced back and forth asking the questions out loud, but not actually asking anyone but myself. I was trying to figure it all out.
“Calm down little Rose,” Traian said calmly while standing and gently grabbing my arms.
“No! I need to speak to her. I don’t trust her as far as I can throw her. She’s unstable and frankly, a liability. I can’t keep watching over my shoulder, wondering what she’s going to do next, or whether or not she’s on my side.”
“What are you saying, Freya?” Traian asked me with his brows furrowed.
“I want Selene gone. I don’t care where she goes, as long as it’s far away from me.”
Samael Wulf
“Freya? That bitch...” Selene hissed.
Without thinking I rushed her, grabbing her by the throat and smashing her into the wall. With her pinned to the wall with one hand, I pointed my finger into her face with the other. With gritted teeth I hissed into her face,
“Don’t you ever call her that. You hear me?”
“B... But, Sam...” She gasped out.
I suddenly let her go when I realized that she couldn’t breathe. She fell to the floor, clutching at her throat while she struggled to catch her breath. Usually, she’d have been able to throw me off of her with ease, but she couldn’t. She was weak.
“What’s happened to you? Why are you so weak?”
I walked away while I waited for her to answer. Opening up the drawer I took out a pair of boxers and pulled them on underneath my towel. Once on, I whipped the towel off and threw it into the washing bin. Opening up the drawers again, I took out some sweat pants and a t-shirt and got dressed. In the time it took me to do all that, Selene had only just dragged herself off of the floor. I had never seen her like that, it was a shock to say the least.
“I’m going to get some breakfast. You coming?” I asked her, but not really giving her an option as I left the room before she answered.
I could hear her coughing and spluttering behind me. I should have felt bad that I’d caused it, but cussing out Freya like that, was never going to end well. She knew how much I loved Freya, so she should have guessed that I’d react like that. I made my way to the kitchen with a wheezing Selene following closely behind. I opened up the kitchen cupboard and got two glasses out. I held one under the giant coffee machine and pressed the button. Out came thick warm blood. I filled the other glass up and took them over to Selene who'd sat herself down at the dining table.
“That’s a useful contraption. I might need to get me one of those,” Selene said with a chuckle, trying to lighten the mood.
I handed her a glass and watched as she gulped the crimson liquid down, not even bothering to stop for breath. When she’d finished, she gasped in some air, then wiped her mouth with her sleeve. I handed her my drink too, then sat down. She gulped that one down too, before slamming the empty glass down onto the table. She then sat back, clearly full.
“Better?”
“Yes. Thank you, I haven’t eaten in days. It’s been so long since I’ve had to hunt. You might say, I’m a little rusty,” she explained with an awkward chuckle.
“Since when do you have to hunt for your food? You usually just use your powers to calm someone, then feed,” I asked, not understanding anything that was going on.
“Since that bitch Frey...”
“Enough!” I bellowed, slamming my fist onto the table. She jumped back in her seat with a frightened hiss. “You can tell me your story without insulting my love. One more comment like that, and I’ll have my brood throw you out. Understand?” She rolled her eyes, but nodded her head in agreement. “Good. Now you may continue.”
“Well, Freya managed to find a way to take all of my powers. I’m going to need your help until I get my powers back. You owe me Samael.”
I stood up and replied,
“Sorry, Selene. I won’t help you. I won’t go against Freya, again.” With that said, I continued to stroll out of the dining room. “You can see yourself out.”
“You will help me Samael. You wouldn’t even remember who the fuck Freya was, if it wasn’t for me, and that!” She ran out in front of me and pulled my t-shirt collar down and pointed her shaky finger at my shoulder.
I looked down at my angel mark before scowling back at her. I pulled my t-shirt back up, then walked towards the front door, my plan was to throw her ass out myself. “Fine, if that’s not reason enough to owe me. Then how about I tell your brood what happened to your brothers and Kali?” She whispered.
Rage built up inside me instantly. I spun around grabbing her by the throat and lifted her into the air. I snarled up at her, and although she couldn’t breathe, she grinned sadistically down at me. My head spun around when I heard footsteps upstairs, so I quickly opened the office door and threw Selene inside. She slid along the floor and slammed into the desk.
“Tell me what you know,” I demanded.
Pulling herself off the floor she replied,
“Everything!” She snapped then walked around the desk and sat in my chair. “I’m still your lines sire, remember? I can access your thoughts. Especially when you’re dreaming and forget to lock me out.”
I sighed with agitation while taking a seat on the couch.
“What do you want Selene?”
“Freya’s head on a spike!”
Freya Rose
I’d had a meeting with the twins, Finn, Savanah, and the witch teens. I needed to work out what to do with Selene. She needed to be out of my life for a while, but I was worried if I cut her loose, that she would continue to hunt witch and warlock kids. I needed ideas and fast. We all drove out to a secluded location, far enough away from the cabin. I had the rest of the pack keeping guard of Selene and Gideon. I hadn’t told them anything. I didn’t need Selene fishing it out of their heads, then tricking them into letting her escape. The twins fed her some more sleeping meds, and we hoped they would last long enough.
The cars pulled up into a clearing and we all got out. I found a fallen tree and sat down. The witch teens sat on the floor in front of me, Savanah next to me, with Finn and the twins stood behind the witches.
“Why are we out here?” Draco asked with agitation.
I could tell it was more nerves than anything else, he was just trying to cover it up.
“I need a way to get rid of Selene,” I replied.
“Like, kill her?” Lorena asked with more hope in her voice than the twins liked.
Marik growled at her, making her duck down in fear. Draco stood up ready to challenge Marik. I didn’t know what he thought he’d achieve, Marik would have snapped his neck in seconds.
“Stop. Sit down!” I screamed at them.
Marik gave me a confused look and placed his finger on his chest, silently asking me if I meant him too.
“Yes. All of you. Sit.” The twins and Finn looked at me like I was insane. But I was fed up of all of them acting like fucking children. This was a serious situation, and I needed to take complete control. “Now!”
They all jumped at my bellowing voice and did as they were told. The grown men looked ridiculous trying to get comfy on the dirt, and it was difficult to keep the grin from my face, especially when Finnley lifted his ass to pull a stick out from underneath him. I found it amusingly fitting, and by Mina's chuckles in my head, and Savanah's giggles beside me, I wasn’t the only one that thought he had a stick up his ass.
“No, I don’t want her dead. She is the mother of us all, I have no idea what would happen to us all if she was killed.” The twins shot me daggers for even thinking of ending their mother’s life. I rolled my eyes and continued, “and I still love her regardless of what she’s done. Although, with Azael, Kali and Gideon to deal with, I really don’t have the time or energy to keep an eye on an unstable, murderous, Moon Goddess.”
Traian and Marik both nodded their heads in agreement. Although they loved their mother, they didn’t particularly have a close relationship. It was more the bond that tied them together, and once we went ahead with our mating bond, they would soon grow even more distant.
